National Florist Day; being celebrated at Covent Flower Market!

To celebrate the first ever National Florist Day (NFD), on Saturday June 8th, the Flower Market is hosting a flower demonstration program between 6.15 and 9.30am.

The demonstrations will take place in part of the Green & Bloom Flowers unit in the Market and feature five fantastic florists all of whom are long-standing and much-respected customers of the market. The line-up and running order* is as follows:

6.25 Elaine Graham – Pesh Flowers

7.00 Ahmed Salman – Paul Thomas Flowers

7.35 Warren Bushaway – London Event Florist

8.10 Alan Simpson – Hybrid Flowers

8.45 Simon Lycett – Simon J Lycett Ltd

Each florist will be creating something magically unique from flowers and foliage sourced from the Market that morning. The whole event will be streamed live through the Flower Market’s instagram account @marketflowers and there will be plenty more activity on social channels that morning too.

We will also be exhibiting a very special creation from the budding florists (7-9 year-olds) at our neighbouring Wyvil School, giving new films about the Market their premiere in the café and providing free teas and coffees between 6am and 9am. It’s going to be a fun, inclusive occasion – we’d love anyone to join us, meet the florists and kick off the inaugural National Florist Day in magnificent style.
